The Colorful Tessa Violet and Dua Lipa
I came across the song and music video ‘Crush’ by Tessa Violet midway thru the pandemic and I immediately fell in love with the way it was shot, the colors, compositions and surrealism. I quickly consumed all Tessa’s videos and loved every one. Around the same time I found another artist: Dua Lipa. Dua Lipa’s videos also use color and composition wonderfully, but with much more choreography, more realism, less extreme color and more attitude.
Two artists, two visions, two personas; I put them both in the same category.
How do these artists inspire me? For one, they both use color boldly and big. Secondly, they both tell a story in creative and fantastic ways. Their personas are equally important to their art vision. I think constantly about my company’s persona and style. I respect any artist who is able to create a wholistic character with minimal gaps.
Lastly, their confidence let’s us see them in their art, full on. There is no half ass’ing with these artists. Perhaps my largest goal is both a life goal and a company goal: never hide from who you are and what you stand for.
